Removal of Old Aerials

Did you know that it is your legal responsibility to remove old and / or damaged aerials from your roof? If something happened and someone on the ground was injured, you would be liable if they wanted to make a claim. There is also the risk of it falling and damaging your property too.

When the team at ATV aerials drive around they are always surprised at the amount of out of date or broken aerials they spot. Grant Smith said:

"When we fit a new aerial we always remove old or redundant aerials. No-one wants too much metal up on their roof and if it isn't being used then it is just a waste of space, which could become dangerous. High winds, rain and old age can weaken the structure of an older aerial very easily. And you'd be surprised how heavy they actually are!

"Aerials and aerial upgrades are extremely popular at the moment. Due to high costs, people are moving away from Sky and Virgin, and we are busier than ever with aerial work - thanks to Freeview and smart TV's everyone has everything they need to view.

"If you have an old aerial or one you don't use, you should never attempt to remove it yourself, as there is a chance of injury to yourself or to others. As roof and height specialists, however awkward or high your aerial is, you should give us a call. It is what we are trained to do and have the equipment for."

So next time you are in the garden or driving down your street where you can see your roof, check out what is on it. If you aren't sure, give ATV Aerial and Satellite a call on 0191 252 4308, and they will come and check it out for you! The team also remove old satellite dishes too.
