Don't Be Afraid to Cut the Cord on TV Packages

Cord cutting is the buzz word of our industry for 2024. But what does it mean?

After years of having to pay a lot of money a year to companies such as Sky and Virgin Media, people are now watching great programmes on for free or at a lower cost.

But how do you cut the cord and what do you need? Get your scissors out and we will take you through it.

Whilst it is still important to have an aerial to access many channels, things changed once fast broadband became the norm. Many now watch TV via their internet connection. Channels are becoming a thing of the past, although as you'll know we still love a good telly guide especially at Christmas.

Now, by subscribing to a legal and cost effective streaming service such as Netflix or Disney+, you can get programmes streamed directly to your TV, phone, laptop or tablet.

To Cut The Cord effectively you need:

  • Fast broadband to the whole of your house. We can make sure you are getting maximum speeds throughout your entire home with no blank spots
  • An aerial to access your options for BBC, ITV and 4 to their full. Although these can also be watched through the internet, to enjoy 'live' an aerial is often needed. Even Sky Glass prefers to have an aerial connection. It's important your cabling is also in good health.
  • A streaming device, a smart TV or a TV you can cast your content to.
  • A decision on what streaming services you will use. Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Apple TV, Discovery +, Paramount, and Now are some of the best known. An Amazon firestick also comes with a number of streaming services worth checking out!
  • A big pair of scissors when you make that call to Sky or Virgin.

With good planning and a lot of exploring there is no need to miss out on your usual viewing and who knows you may even find programmes you would have previously missed!

If you are keen to cut the cord and want to make sure you are good to go, then get in touch with Jayne in our office on 0191 2524308.
